Pirates 06:11
There was a time for pirates When the future seemed as bright as snow People knew my name across the sea And I began to feel my reputation grow Caught myself a big fish Biggest one I ever saw And I made it my own Made my way through the world like a shark Looking for a fresh kill Now I'm sitting by the fire Drink in my hand Reaching for a phantom limb I just can't scratch Where have those good times gone? Just can't see anything at all 'Cept for the shadows on the wall There was a time for T. rex to grow his feathers Now I'm a cold reptile left outside in stormy weather Archeopteryx, you have flown the coup forever Now I'm stuck in the tar, oil tycoons licking their chops I'm just sitting by the fire Knife in my hand Reaching for a whittling block Trying to understand Where are those good time girls? Just can't see anything at all Now there's only shadows on the wall Now there's only shadows on the wall Now there's only shadows on the wall On the wall, on the wall, on the wall Now there's only shadows on the wall I'm just sitting by the fire Drink in my hand Reaching for a phantom limb Trying to understand Where are those good time boys? Just can't see anything at all Now there's only shadows on the wall

Purgatory 02:38
What sort of witchery is this? A spell that did not seem a curse My arms are outstretched in the air You could have disappeared, I know now that this is much worse A ghost of our romance to see Somehow just enhances the pain I could not turn you out for hope that you'll be mine again Thoughts that we would fall in love went away Replaced by the dread of your persistence, resist Still, I am the one who will follow you Through walls, I will haunt you as well, maybe better Purgatory This sorcery will diminish But the old feelings will return Maybe I should now walk away You could have disappeared, I know now that this is much worse Purgatory Said you wanted evil to stop Still, we are bound by mortal chains I could not turn you out for hope that you'll be mine again

Lord, give me strength Please make me stronger I've finally found I've found a reason Lord, give me strength Please make me harder I've finally found A reason to pray Please, please, let me have her Am I strong enough to love her? Do I have what it takes? Am I strong enough to have her? Lord, give me strength Please make me harder I've finally found I've found a reason Lord, give me strength Please make me stronger I've finally found A reason to pray I've never wanted, wanted like this I've only asked for things that I needed I never asked for things that I wanted I haven't asked for things in a long time I haven't asked for help in a long time I've only asked for things that I needed I never asked for things that I wanted I haven't asked for help in a long time Lord, give me strength Please make me stronger I've finally found I've found a reason Lord, give me strength Please make me harder I've finally found A reason to pray Please, please, let me have her Am I strong enough to love her? Do I have what it takes? Am I strong enough to kill?

Waves 12:00
The waves keep crashing, retracting memory Items left and whittled, on this shore of the past The wind keeps howling, lifting bias On it brought the serpent, who whispered of false gods The foam and froth soon appear Our sleeves were wet with our tears Run up high Waves will always catch up Leaving no trace of us in its wake It's too still, irrational fear A song from the past becomes clear Run up high Waves will always catch up Leaving no trace of us in its wake

The sound of laughter is drowned out by the gong of the bells High above in a church tower Turning round and round, voices soften now Anybody here seen that old gang of mine? I was your Danny, we always called you Sweet Adeline Through the fair we would walk hand in hand Faces on the wall, nothing there at all This romance is breaking that old gang of mine I met you fine summer morning by the old mill stream It was like a dream, swimming Faces on a screen, don't know what it means I remember days with that old gang of mine The sound of music used to play on a jukebox machine Down the way at the soda fountain Songs with Bob and John, don't know where they've gone Wedding bells have broken that old gang of mine We used to sing in harmony Though out of tune we'd sometimes be We didn't care, we'd have our fun Girls at the dance, drinks at the pub We knew someday that it would end But that forever we'd be friends And the memories would still live on inside our minds The memories of that old gang of mine

I felt so left out and worthless Sitting in my room alone Wishing I could help the empire So far removed from the throne Then one day I got the call To bring some honor to my name My talents being realized From hours of computer games Softly squeeze the trigger from the safety of my pilot's seat 13 widows, 14 widows My score will be hard to beat Watching all the carnage from the opulence of my vid screen 14 widows, 15 widows My score will be hard to beat Lithely, I control the joystick Nimbly as an engineer With those pixelated turbans Centered under my crosshair Speakers blasting heavy metal Caffeinated for the night My superb hand-eye coordination Guides me through this noble fight Softly squeeze the trigger from the safety of my pilot's seat 14 widows, 15 widows My score will be hard to beat Watching all the carnage from the opulence of my vid screen 15 widows, 16 widows My score will be hard to beat See the icon on the side of the screen Rip it apart with my laser gun Softly squeeze the trigger from the safety of my pilot's seat 15 widows, 16 widows My score will be hard to beat Watching all the carnage from the opulence of my vid screen 18 widows, 19 widows My score will be hard to beat

My son, what have we done? We were told of the wonderful mysteries the box might hold If we could only buy one We were sold To think we could all be kings and queens, not unfortunate ones Unaware that the machines had won Time to go, time to go We didn't build an ark, but this'll have to do On with the show Time to go There's no more time to bask in the glory The rest of us will be forgotten in time And the meek little creatures shall rise Sail the ship, chop the tree Soon we'll all by truly free I wish I could put that genie back in the bottle, but It's too late for me Bail the boat, bail the boat It was nice while it lasted Those weak people asked for so little to stitch up our coats Bail the boat Now there's no use for phones And I wish that I owned an orange instead of a dime Or an hour instead of the time Chop the tree, sail the ship While it lasted, it was great I wish I could put that genie back in the bottle, but It's too late, it's too late We've seen violence, incredible violence We've been waiting, endlessly waiting Chop the ship, sail the tree Soon we'll all be truly free I wish I could put that genie back in the bottle, but It's too late for me

Deep in my foxhole, walled in by snow Is today Christmas? Nobody knows Losing the meaning of months and weeks And my machine gun's no company Look at the sky now, hey, is it green? Been dreaming of the smell of chlorine Wish that your perfume was in that dream A juicy steak or a glass of cream Maybe I'll just run away screaming Massaged by bullets, I am relieved Would my god forgive me for this sin? It would be too late to ask of him To be discharged so dishonorably To let down my family and country Look at the air now, hey, is it snow? Those happy memories seemed so long again Of drinking chocolate and caroling Oh, was it real or just a dream? Maybe I'll just march away singing Massaged by bullets, I am released

Formed in 2015 and established as a live group to be reckoned with in Portland's prog, math, and experimental music scene, Rainbow Face has spent the last three years crafting a wall of sound in their friend Colin Doherty and bassist Dominique Reveneau’s studio, Quartertone Recording. On their near 50 minute debut album 'Stars' Blood', they slip effortlessly through meters, modes, and genres while retaining a consistent tone as the lyrics hit on themes of isolation, paranoia, fear of technology, and mental illness.
